When I found out yesterday that New York had made the decision to legalize same sex marriage, I immediately tweeted it to all of my followers, stating that the world was now one step closer to accepting those who are different. But, let's be honest. Whether you're gay, straight, bi-sexual, or transgender, at the end of the day, we're still all human beings, and that's something we can all agree on. This is exactly what I plan on stressing in music, because I already do it as a human being. Being a Hip-Hop artist, I feel like I'll be opening up a lot of people's minds by stating my opinion's (not forcing them, just stating them). Because let's face it, Hip-Hop isn't exactly the type of genre where being anything but straight is glorified, unless you're a woman (Nicki Minaj), in which case it's okay with everybody, at least that's what I've noticed in most people who listen to Hip-Hop or watch the music videos. Now I myself am already aware of a few gay rappers whose music is not filled whatever gutter-minded stereotypical thoughts are floating through people's heads. For example, Jordon introduced me to an artist by the name of Kaoz, whose words are actually very thought-provoking and moving, and in my opinion, better than a lot of rappers in the mainstream, that's the truth. If you have the time, which if you don't, you should find some, check out his music, and watch as all the supposed content you assume would be in a gay rapper's music is put to rest. Their sexual orientation does not make them any different from any other artist, but unfortunately, that is exactly what they are judged by rather than their music. As I've said many times before, is not a big deal, and I welcome it with open arms. But anyways, I'm gonna go ahead and get off of this right now, I just wanted to clear my head on a few things. I thank those of you who took the time to read this, it's much appreciated. And once again, Thank you New York!
